MIAMI -- Tropical Storm Tammy made landfall in north Florida near Jacksonville Wednesday, and the remnants of it will be affecting South Florida throughout the day Thursday.Rain from the tail of Tammy will be pushing into our area from the south most of the day.Slideshow Forecast | Hurricane Tracker

Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties are under a flash flood watch until Friday morning.A flood watch means that conditions will be favorable for heavy rains and possible flooding.The National Weather Service says widespread rain with scattered thunderstorms can be expected over South Florida Thursday and into Thursday night.Over the past 24 hours, most of South Florida has received some rain. Radar estimates of 1 to 2 inches occurred over most of mainland Monroe, eastern Palm Beach, northeast Miami-Dade and southeast Broward counties.Estimates of an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain may occur across South Florida Thursday.Meanwhile, a low pressure system has formed near the western tip of Cuba. NBC 6's Lonnie Quinn said the system may merit an inspection by hurricane hunter aircraft.The National Weather Service says the system has the potential to produce heavy rains and gusty winds over western Cuba and the Florida Keys, spreading over the remainder of Florida Friday.Another tropical wave has formed more than 1,000 miles from the Leeward Islands. The National Hurricane Center says the system is becoming better organized and forecasters should keep their eyes on it.
