If you are ordered to evacuate, Florida law says you MUST evacuate.In any category hurricane, people living in low-lying areas, or directly adjacent to water, should leave immediately.Category 1 or 2 Hurricanes:
Only residents of mobile homes, travel trailers, RVs, campsites, live-aboard boats, and low-lying areas will be told to evacuate.Category 3, 4 or 5 Hurricanes:
Where there is a threat of storm surge, everyone is evacuated. Boat owners are advised that once the Emergency Evacuation Order is issued, bridges at Jewfish Creek and Snake River will be locked down.The Monroe County Main evacuation center is at Florida International University, SW 107 Avenue and SW 8 Street in Miami-Dade County.
