FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A South Florida high school football player has become a bit of a legend because of the size of his feet.
The teenager actually needed some help from the Miami Dolphins to get a proper pair of cleats.
Kevin Bryant's coach calls him a gentle giant, but when his size 20 feet strike the ground, there's nothing gentle about it."My first impression, the first word that came to my mind was boats. Big boats," said teammate Gene Altidor."Yeah, they make jokes like, 'You're walking on 20 inch rims' and stuff like that," Bryant said.At 6 feet 7 inches tall and 375 pounds, the senior lineman at Boyd Anderson High School is no joke on the football field. But until last month, Bryant had a serious problem -- he couldn't find a pair of cleats that actually fit him.The Miami Dolphins stepped in, placing the special order and footing the cost of the shoes.Bryant visited Dolphins' training camp to show off his new size 20 cleats, which are bigger than anyone of the Dolphins' players' feet. After using them in a game for the first time, he said felt he had much more support than the old cleats."They were all torn up. I had to use tape to hold them together," Bryant said."He felt real happy that somebody was willing to lend a hand for him," said Boyd Anderson High coach Mark James. "It was just overall a good experience."Starting next fall, ordering those size 20s will be the responsibility of whichever college wins the recruiting war over Bryant. The senior said he hasn't decided where he wants to play college football.
