NEW YORK -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez again called President George W. Bush a devil Thursday at a church in Harlem, one day after calling the president a devil during a United Nations speech.Greeted by an enthusiastic anti-Bush crowd led by actor Danny Glover at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Chavez was treated as a hero in the same Harlem church Fidel Castro, his mentor, visited on his first U.N. visit in 1961.Chavez went there to announce he will provide 100 million gallons of heating oil at discount prices this winter to low-income people in New York and 17 other states.
Chavez praised the American people."We are friends of yours, and you are our friends. Let's not be misled or manipulated. We are enemies of imperialism," Chavez said. Then, Chavez launched into an attack on Bush."I said he was the devil. I think he's the devil. He's a sick man, full of complexes, but very dangerous because now he has a lot of power," Chavez said. When he mentioned Cuba and Castro, the church gathering burst into applause. Chavez said that even though Castro is an atheist, God is helping him recover.Citgo, a Houston-based energy company that is owned and controlled by the Venezuelan government, organized the highly publicized event in Harlem -- one of a series designed to boost the Venezuelan leader's popularity in the U.S.
