POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- Two adults and five children were robbed around 2:40 p.m. Thursday in a violent home invasion, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.ImagesThe newly married couple and the children were tied up and robbed at gunpoint in the 2000 block of Northwest Sixth Avenue in Pompano Beach.
“The head of the house was pushed to the floor and kicked in the head. They turned over some cash. Then the people (robbers) started taking jewelry and actually pulling wedding rings off the people’s fingers and taking gold chains off their necks,” said Jim Leljedal from BSO.Gloria Miranda’s daughter was inside the home visiting relatives when the invasion occurred. She said nothing like that had ever happened to the family before.“It’s stressful (and) scary. I’m shocked,” she said. The investigation revealed that the family members might have been targeted because of business done inside the dwelling.“There is a little bit of a cash business going on in here. They do some hairdressing. As a result of that, these people may have thought that these homeowners have a lot of money,” Leljedal said.None of the victims were injured. The robbers did not get away with a great deal of cash.If you have any information, please call Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
