About 500 pounds of explosives tore a hole in the ship's bottom as the 888-foot carrier was sunk off the coast of Pensacola to create the world's largest artificial reef.

Pensacola officials said they hope the Oriskany will attract sport fishermen and divers.

The Oriskany saw action in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

The Korean War movie "The Bridges at Toko-Ri" was filmed on board the Oriskany.
