DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- It's a story that will bring a smile to anyone who has ever had a run-in with their condo or homeowner's association. A dogfight at a South Florida condominium has left the condo's chief out of a job.
Bernatte Casale has shared her Delray Beach apartment with her pet Chihuahua for five years despite the building's strict no-pet policy.Recently, the condo association ordered her to give up the dog or move. That sparked a local uproar and caused the condo’s president to resign, claiming he feared for his safety.Casale says she needs her pet and refuses to move."She gives me emotional support," Casale said. The condo association says it has enforced the policy in the past, and it wouldn't be fair to make an exception for Casale.Association members say they will likely to apply for a state arbitrator to resolve the dispute.
