MIAMI -- Police said they are searching for a person who killed a man at a Miami-Dade County bus stop Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting happened near Northwest 84th Terrace and Northwest Seventh Avenue. It forced Arcola Lake Elementary School to go on lockdown, which was lifted at about 5 p.m.

Authorities said the victim was sitting at the bus stop when he was shot several times.

Police said the shooter tossed the gun into a vacant lot before escaping.

Northwest Seventh Avenue was shut down from Little River Drive to Northwest 84th Street during the investigation.

Police said they have someone in custody for questioning, but they wouldn't confirm if the person was a suspect.

There was no word on what motivated the shooting.
