MIAMI -- South Floridians are known for being fashionable, but do they have what it takes to compete against the top aspiring designers from around the world?
"Project Runway" came to Miami on Thursday to look for aspiring designers to cast in its fifth season.
Designer Elier Aubret said the fashion competition could change his life completely."I would have a chance to win 'Project Runway,' get the $100,000 and start my own fashion line," Mario Wallace said. The winner will receive $100,000 to start a fashion line.Perhaps even more important than the cash prize is the exposure that aspiring designers receive on the Bravo channel’s show. For Kim Welborn, "Project Runway" is a chance to change her love of design from a hobby into a career. The mother of four brought her daughter, Rachael McOwen, to model her clothes."Our mother is completely perfect for this because she doesn't start any project until about 24 hours before it is due, which is perfect for 'Project Runway' because you only get 24 hours," McOwen said."Project Runway" will continue casting its fifth season in other cities.Click here for more information about the show and auditions.
