MIAMI -- Two men were killed when shots rang out at a Chili's restaurant in northwest Miami-Dade County on Wednesday, police said. The shooting happened around midnight at the Chili's on 57th Avenue near the Palmetto Expressway.According to investigators, the incident began as a fight inside the restaurant and spilled into the parking lot. One man was found dead outside the restaurant. A second victim was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he later died.
The two men were identified as Jason Gonzalez and Rolando Carrazana, both 24."I heard four or five shots and tried to leave the restaurant at the time," one witness said. "The cops wouldn't let me leave. They taped up the place, and they said we had to stay."Detective Robert Williams said officers took one man into custody."He was here on the scene. As far as how he was apprehended, that's not going to be released until later until homicide gets finished with the investigation," Williams said.Police also said there were conflicting reports as to whether the shooting happened inside the restaurant or in the parking lot."It was all about a girl, basically from what I understand," the witness said. "One guy was talking to a girl and the other guy didn't like it."Grief counselors were available at the Chili's and an additional security guard monitored the premises. The investigation continues. The shooting was the second scare for the employees of the restaurant. Armed men robbed the same Chili's in September.
