This contest is limited to students in Miami-Dade and Broward County Middle Schools.

NBC 6 is thrilled to be joining efforts with Ron Magill and the Miami Metro Zoo again on this exciting adventure. Why I Dream of the Rainforest was such a great event in 2005, and Alaska is a fabulous choice for this year.

This year, the theme of the contest is "Why I Dream of Alaska." Students should describe their dreams of Alaska in a 500 words or less essay. The winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to Alaska along with a parent or guardian of their choice (valued at over $10,000) and will be accompanied by Ron Magill, along with a reporter and NBC 6 cameraman. The entire adventure will be produced in a 30-minute documentary that will air on NBC 6. This is an exclusive, personalized trip designed to explore not only the amazing wildlife of Alaska, but also its fascinating culture.

All essays have to be submitted to your school by February 15th. Each middle school will determine their winner. Each individual school winner will receive a family pass for 4 to Metrozoo, including monorail and tram tour tickets valued at over $80.00. Those winners will be submitted to Ron Magill at Miami Metro Zoo for final judging by a select panel. From the individual school winners, five finalists will be selected. Those finalists will receive a digital camera valued at almost $200.00, and will be interviewed by a select panel that will then determine the grand prize winner.

2. Entrants must be enrolled full-time in a Miami-Dade or Broward Public Middle School.
3. Essay must be 500 words or less describing why the student dreams of Alaska.
4. Essays must be submitted to teachers by February 15th, 2008.
5. Each school is responsible for picking one winner that will then be submitted to Ron Magill by March 15th, 2008.

8. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a 9 day adventure to Alaska with a parent or guardian escorted by Ron Magill of Miami Metrozoo and documented by NBC 6 for future broadcast.
9. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2008.
