Disney Star Works With Miami Best Buddies Program

MIAMI -- Disney's High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens was in South Florida on Friday to promote the program Best Buddies.Best Buddies is a program that provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities.The 18-year-old Disney star shadowed an office assistant who works at Ocean Drive Magazine.
"I'm here today in Miami to support Best Buddies," Hudgens said. "Best Buddies is an amazing organization that helps support people with mental disabilities. Today, it actually put them in jobs, which is why I'm here at Ocean Drive."Hudgens skyrocketed to fame as one of the stars of Disney's smash hit made-for-TV-musicals High School Musical and High School Musical 2.When she's not singing and dancing, she said she enjoys giving back to the community by touching the lives of those in need."This is an amazing program, you know," she said. "My manager is the person who actually developed it, and I found out about it and I thought it was an amazing organization. It's really neat to reach out to people who are, like, fans, too. Just to be able to be a part of their lives is really neat."The Best Buddies gala and fundraiser will be held Saturday night at Bicentennial Park. The exclusive event features a performance by pop star Ciara.When Hudgens was asked about High School Musical 3, she said she can't wait to do another one.
