An irate passenger was charged with assaulting to ticket counter agents at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Saturday.

Police said the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at the Air Jamaica counter in Terminal 4.

They said a passenger returning to New York from Jamaica started yelling at ticket counter agents, then picked up a metal stanchion used to direct foot traffic and went after the agents.

Police said the man pushed two employees out of the way as they tried to step in and protect the counter agents.

Officers took the man into custody before anyone was hurt, police said.

Carlton Hylton, 37, of New York, was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and battery, plus trespassing and disorderly conduct, police said.
