MIAMI -- Two Miami-Dade County women are facing felony charges, accused of practicing health care without a license.
Undercover agents busted the operation based at a spa called Image Plus Aesthetic Skin Care in the 8300 block of West Flagler Street.
According to authorities, the owner of the facility, Vivian Diaz Gutierrez, and an accomplice, Maria Diaz Obregon, were providing intricate medical procedures -- like lip augmentations and mesotherapy -- to hundreds of patients.Police said Gutierrez (pictured, right) has been operating the spa for 30 years."Unlicensed health care is a felony here in the state of Florida," said Roy Rutland with the Miami-Dade Police Department. "This is a very dangerous, invasive technique. That is why it's important if you do have these types of procedures done, you absolutely have to have this done by a medical doctor."The Florida Department of Health is looking into shutting down the spa. Each woman is charged with unlicensed practice of health care.
