AVENTURA, Fla. -- The Aventura Police Department is turning to the World Wide Web for help in solving a 2001 homicide case.
The department has posted a video on YouTube and MySpace that shows surveillance footage of the man wanted for questioning in Irving Sicherer's killing.
The 76-year-old was bludgeoned to death in his Aventura condo on July 23, 2001. His daughter discovered his body."Not many days go by that I don' t close my eyes and see what I found when I walked in," Beverly Sicherer said in 2001.The police department said it hopes to generate new leads and information by posting the clips on high traffic sites like YouTube and MySpace. The surveillance video posted online shows Sicherer with a man in his mid to late 20s."The person was most likely homeless, possibly a homosexual, maybe working as a prostitute," Sgt. Michael Bentaolila said. "We just want to identify him, speak to him, find out what he knows. As far as we know, he is the last person who was with Mr. Sicherer before his demise."To view the video, visit www.youtube.com/user/AventuraPD or www.myspace.com/aventurapolice.
