FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Fort Myers detectives say they're pursuing more than 400 leads in the kidnapping of an infant boy.
One month ago, Bryan Dos Santos Gomes was taken from his mother at knifepoint when he was just 28 days old.
Investigators believe the baby might have been taken because his parents failed to pay human smugglers when they came to the U.S. illegally from Brazil.Six Fort Myers detectives are assigned full-time to the case and they're getting state and federal help.A priest who acts as a spokesman for the boy's parents said the couple is afraid to leave the house, fearing they'll miss news of their son.
