'United 93' Movie To Premiere In New York
Film Is First Of Two Sept. 11 Features Set For Theaters

NEW YORK -- Nearly five years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a film about one of the doomed flights that day will make its world premiere on opening night at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York."United 93" will debut at the festival April 25 and open in theaters nationwide three days later.Writer/director Paul Greengrass, who helmed "The Bourne Supremacy" and "Bloody Sunday," is behind the film, which attempts in real-time to portray a story of bravery and sacrifice on the part of passengers.
The cast is made up of relative newcomers, including Cheyenne Jackson (Broadway's "All Shook Up"), Alan Basche ("Law & Order," "Rescue Me") and Christian Clemenson ("Boston Legal," "Veronica Mars").The actors play Mark Bingham, Todd Beamer and Tom Burnett, respectively -- three of the passengers who fought back against the terrorists who hijacked the flight.Forty passengers and crewmembers died when Flight 93 crashed into a Pennsylvania field on Sept.11, 2001. The flight was en route from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco.The Tribeca Film Festival was created to assist lower Manhattan in recovering economically from the attacks."United 93" is the second film project about the flight to come out this year. Earlier, the television movie, "Flight 93," was made for the A&E cable network.A second feature film surrounding the Sept. 11 attacks, "World Trade Center," is due in theaters in August.Oliver Stone is directing the film, which stars Nicolas Cage.The film follows two New York Port Authority officers as they struggle to survive under the rubble of the twin towers after their collapse.
