LOS ANGELES -- Owen Wilson's publicist isn't commenting on tabloid reports that the actor tried to kill himself, but police have.A police log lists suicide attempt as the reason for a 911 call from Owen Wilson's house over the weekend. The log doesn't say who made the call.
The New York Post said Wilson was found bloody and dazed by his brother, fellow actor Luke Wilson. He had reportedly tried to kill himself by overdosing on pills and slitting his wrists The Post said the 38-year-old Wilson previously argued with a close friend and had been recently suffering from depression. Wilson's publicist won't comment on whether or not he tried to kill himself. Wilson is in good condition at a hospital in Los Angeles.Publicist Ina Treciokas didn't respond to an e-mail asking for a comment on those reports.Monday, Wilson released a statement through Treciokas asking reporters to let him "heal in private during this difficult time."The "Wedding Crashers" star's hospitalization has left Hollywood executives in a quandary over how to proceed with pending films starring the highly bankable movie star. The Dallas-born actor is in good condition after being taken from his Santa Monica, Calif., home by ambulance Sunday for unknown reasons. Wilson is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Santa Monica Fire Battalion Chief Jose Torres said the department responded to a call that involved Wilson, but details about the problem have been withheld. The actor had two movies in production and two more upcoming releases to help promote. DreamWorks Pictures said in a statement that filming continues on "Tropic Thunder," a comedy starring Wilson that was set to begin production in the coming weeks. The studio offered no details on whether Wilson's role in the film, directed by Ben Stiller and starring Jack Black, would be recast. It's also unknown if Wilson's hospitalization would affect his appearance opposite Jennifer Aniston in the 20th Century Fox comedy, "Marley & Me." A Fox spokesman told Daily Variety that "it's a totally inappropriate question at this time" whether he would appear in the film. Wilson's hospitalization could also keep him from helping promote "The Darjeeling Limited," in which he stars alongside Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman. The Fox Searchlight film will be released Sept. 28. Paramount also had a Wilson film due out in March: the Judd Apatow-produced "Drillbit Taylor."
