NBC 6's Joel Connable searched the Internet to find the Web sites that can help you get the best deals with the least amount of effort. Here are his picks for the best travel Web sites.
Kayak.com
Kayak.com is one-stop shopping for travel deals. If you want to fly from Fort Lauderdale to New York, Kayak searches dozens of Web sites and then it shows you the best rate on airfares, hotels and cars.
"I usually go to Delta, Expedia, Travelocity, Cheaptickets, but this is better because it searches all of them at once," said Jules Sterling.
Sidestep.com
Sidestep.com does the same thing, comparing dozens of Web sites for the best prices on flights. NBC 6 found a plane ticket from Fort Lauderdale to New York for $170 roundtrip.
Sidestep has another cool feature -- an airport guide where you can see what restaurants are in the terminal. You can also see security wait times and live flight arrival and departure information.
You can look to see how often the flight you are planning to book is on time. For example, Air Tran flight 222 is on time about 80 percent of the time. Its average delay is about 22 minutes.
Yapta.com
Yapta.com is not really a Web site. It's a free program you download, and it will tell you when the airfare for the flight you want goes up or down. If you search American Airlines for a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, Yapta will pop up while you are on American's Web site and monitor that fare for you. Then it will notify you if the price goes up or down so you can buy the ticket at the lowest price.
Seatguru.com
After you book your flight you'll want to log onto Seatguru.com. Put your mouse over each seat and get an instant review. On Airtran flight 222, seat 10A has extra leg room. Seat 20A doesn't recline and seat 28A is a noisy place to sit because the engines are right beside you. Good to know before you get on the plane.
