Davidson (1-0) At Michigan (1-0)

Saturday, November 11th, 4:00 p.m. (et).

GAME NOTES: In second-round action of the John Thompson Foundation Classic, the Davidson Wildcats take on the host Michigan Wolverines. Davidson opened its 2006-07 season with a 81-77 triumph over Eastern Michigan on Friday, erasing a 16-point halftime deficit to do so. The Wildcats will face Central Connecticut State tomorrow and play their first home game of the campaign against Illinois- Chicago on Wednesday. As for Michigan, it took out Central Connecticut State in its lidlifter yesterday, thrashing the Blue Devils in a 60-40 final. The Wolverines, who improved to 6-0 in season openers under current head coach Tommy Amaker, will play Eastern Michigan on Sunday before hosting Wisconsin- Milwaukee to close this event on Wednesday. The all-time series between Davidson and Michigan is knotted at three games apiece, with the most recent meeting taking place in the 1998 NCAA Tournament -- a game won by Michigan, 80-61.

Davidson got plenty of offensive production in Friday's opener against Eastern Michigan, as four players scored in double figures -- the leader being Thomas Sander. Sander, who converted 11-of-15 free throw attempts, finished with a career-best 19 points, while Jason Richard finished with 17 points and eight assists, Boris Meno posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Stephen Curry made the most of his first collegiate start, netting 15 points. It's a good thing that the Wildcats were able to score at will, because a whopping 32 turnovers should have been their undoing. One thing is for sure, if they are that careless with the ball today, Michigan will surely make them pay.

Dion Harris led three Wolverines in double figures, as Michigan had little trouble disposing of Central Connecticut State in Friday's season opener. Harris, who averaged better than 11 ppg last season, shot 6-of-10 from the floor, which included a 5-of-8 showing from three-point range. Ron Coleman and Lester Abram scored 10 points apiece, and the two combined for 15 of the team's 39 rebounds on the night. Brent Petway wasn't much of a factor offensively, but came away with seven boards. The Maize and Blue bounced back from a poor shooting first half (.360) to nail 63.2 percent in the second, while all the while limiting the Blue Devils to just 24.5 percent shooting for the game, which included a dismal 4-of-26 effort in the opening half.

Michigan cruised to an easy win over an obviously inferior team in the opener, and it was apparent that Amaker's club came out a bit rusty. The Wolverines played better after the break and they will need to continue playing up to their ability if they hope to make any real noise in the Big Ten this year.

Predicted Outcome

Michigan 72, Davidson 63
