Beyer Holds On To Retain WBC Super Middleweight Title With Win

POSTED: 11:17 pm EST March 12, 2005

Markus Beyer retained his WBC super middleweight title Saturday by surviving a tough 12th round and taking a majority decision over Australian Danny Green.

Beyer was seemingly in control, but was tagged with a huge uppercut in the final round that had him reeling. Green went on the offensive looking for the knockout, but was unable to land the finisher.

The fight was scored 114-113, 115-112 and 114-114 for the German, whose record improved to 32-2.

Green fell to 19-2, with both of his losses coming at the hands of Beyer.

In the first bout, Green was dominating before getting disqualified because of an intentional head butt.
